First time application of nano-hybrid technology for paper production
After five years of intensive nanotechnology research and development, TopChim nv is introducing a revolutionary innovation, NanoTope, in coating pigments for the paper industry and signed a contract with Mondi Business Paper for the exclusive development of its newest neox paper.
Nano-hybrid technology makes it possible
For the first time TopChim’s patented nano-hybrid technology, NanoTope is being used in paper production surface treatment. This new technology creates a smooth, homogenous, nano-structured paper surface. This makes Mondi Business Paper’s neox uniquely versatile: it unites the gloss and smooth surface feel of a coated paper with the high whiteness and stiffness expected of a quality uncoated paper.
"By utilising nano-hybrid technology, developed by TopChim nv, we have achieved a breakthrough in production of pigments on nano-scale for coatings to produce colour laser printing paper. It is a paper more versatile than anything on the market to date," explained Günther Hassler, CEO of Mondi Business Paper. "We have succeeded in combining the advantages of coated and uncoated paper in one sheet. neox is like nothing the paper world has seen before."
A technology driven innovation
Finding new solutions for growing demands and thereby improving paper surface and its properties is at the core of all the research efforts the company does. NanoTope is a result of TopChim’s consistent drive for innovation in collaboration with paper producing companies like Mondi Business Paper.
